Dongfeng Bicycle Green Way is the first bicycle path converted from an abandoned railway in Taiwan, with a total length of 13.6 kilometers. Based on the theme of green tourism and the features of the railway, there are features like a pavilion converted from a railway platform, the bicycle path parallel to the railway, and a faulted platform park commemorating the 921 Earthquake. Attractions along the path are diverse and of both leisure and educational values.
The Lingdan (Big Zero Egg) Platform is a renovation project at the former Shigang Station. The classic blue train cars that used to run on the railway are now a popular prop forming the scenery along the route. The interesting 3D painted wall is ideal for photo-taking and social media check-in.
The majestic Meizi Bridge connects Shigang District and Dongshi District of Taichung. The viewing platform gives a panoramic view of the Dajia River.
The straight bicycle path is lined with lush trees on both sides. Old train tracks still remain in some sections along the path, maintaining the nostalgic countryside atmosphere that is relaxing and pleasant.
Dongshi Tunnel is the only railway tunnel that Dongfeng Bicycle Green Way goes through. Above the entrance, there is the stone plate engraved with the sign "Dongshi Tunnel." Visitors can easily imagine how it used to be like when trains passed through the tunnel with the loud noises.
