Dongshi Forestry Culture Park

Introduction

Anchor
Dongshi Forestry Culture Park was formerly the site of Taiwan Daxueshan Forestry Corporation, the biggest lumber factory in East Asia in the 60s. It was the first factory in Taiwan to introduce American-style logging operations. It served as an example of the Taiwanese forestry industry and brought prosperity to the mountain areas in Taichung.
Precious relics of the once prosperous forestry that remained until today include a log storage pool which has become home to resident birds, migratory birds, insects and many more creatures. The transformation from the resource-exploiting forestry business to the environmentally friendly culture park today is truly amazing. The park is also a hot destination in central Taiwan to see blooming lotus during summer.
The park invites masters from Taiwan and foreign countries to decorate the park with their creations of culturally diverse woodcrafts using drift wood as an appreciative gesture to natural resources. The incredible craftsmanship has transformed drift woods into a sustained incarnation of life.
