◼️Ecological experience hall – Amphitheater, interactive experience zone and ecological education center
◼️Relish the sunset, wind turbines and stars of Gaomei Wetlands
To prevent local landscape and ecology from being damaged by excessive influx of people and vehicles, Construction Bureau of Taichung City Government (hereinafter referred to as the Bureau) spent more than two years on establishing the Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center). Sized around 8.4 ha, the Center not only serves visitors to Gaomei Wetlands, but also provides two parking parks (Public 68 and Public 69) that can fit in 27 large passenger vehicles, 568 small passenger vehicles and 205 motorcycles.
The two-floor Visitor Center features a spiral-shaped sloping design, resembling waves rising from the ground. The second floor has an observation platform, allowing visitors to relish the sunset and wind turbines of Gaomei Wetlands and looking at the stars at night. The outdoor square are decorated with installation arts featuring fiddler crabs and shells and an outdoor ecological pool. Visitors can take photos here and observe the wetland ecology in a close distance.
Apart from providing travel information and guided tour services, the Center has also established an ecological experience hall to offer visitors a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of wetlands and ecology. Additionally, the Center features a dining area and stores that sell cultural and creative products. To enhance the visitor experience, the Center organizes concerts, ecological lectures, and other activities periodically. These offerings aim to provide convenience and create an enjoyable travel and leisure experience for visitors.
The ecological experience hall at the Gaomei Visitor Center is divided into three distinct areas: the amphitheater, interactive experience zone, and ecological education center. As you enter the amphitheater, you will be captivated by the immersive 360-degree projection. The theater showcases the diverse beauty of Gaomei Wetlands across all seasons, capturing breathtaking scenes from sunrise to sunset. Each moment highlights the unique and enchanting landscape of Gaomei Wetlands.
When you arrive at the interactive experience zone, you will encounter the "Wetlands Knowledge Wall" near the entrance. This informative feature provides a visual overview of global wetland distribution and migratory bird migration routes.
Next, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the development history and the diverse flora and fauna of Gaomei Wetlands. It is worth mentioning that, with the help of technology, visitors can witness the renowned scene of "Gaomei Tidal Flats" and the captivating "Gaomei Sunset", even on rainy days. Additionally, the interactive games like "Wetland Plants", "Dancing with Crabs", and "Spread Wings and Soar" are particularly popular among children, enriching their impression of the wetland ecology.

The ecological education center at the entrance also holds various ecological lectures and activities on an irregular basis. Utilizing diverse methods, the ecological experience hall aims to impart accurate wetland knowledge to visitors, with the hope of sowing the seed of "The sustainable use of wetlands needs to be safeguarded by you and me" in their minds.
This is akin to a vast ecological classroom, equipped with a range of enjoyable facilities, making it an ideal destination for families to have fun together.
English guided tours are available (requiring a reservation one week in advance).
