The Dakeng Hiking Trail No. 3-1 is a branch connecting the Dakeng Hiking Trails 3 and 4, with a total length of only about 350 meters. However, it has two unique features: "valley Ecology" and "Steep-Slope Challenge," making it a must-see route for many experienced hikers.
The trail entrance is about 60 meters after passing the Changqing Bridge at the Zhongzheng Camping Area. The first half follows the valley, with a flat path. At the end of summer, people can see the Taiwanese rain tree blooming with small yellow flowers. In autumn, it bears red fruits, creating a gorgeous color.
The latter half of the trail ascends steeply along Taiwan acacia boardwalks, connecting to the Dakeng Hiking Trail No. 3, testing both cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength. It is recommended for those with ample physical fitness to attempt the 5.2-kilometer loop connecting Dakeng Hiking Trails No. 3 and No. 4, which offers panoramic views of the valley's ecosystem and the mountain ridge.
Pre-trip preparation
It is recommended to bring drinking water in personal bottles.
Visitors are recommended to wear footwear, clothing, and hats suitable for hiking.
There are mosquitoes and other insects in the mountains. It is recommended to wear light-colored, long-sleeved shirts and pants. Apply insect repellent as needed.
The trail is located at a higher altitude, where the temperature difference between day and night is significant. It is recommended to bring warm clothing for unexpected situations.
