The former residence of Lin Mao-Yang was built between 1924 to 1928 for the marriage of Mr. Lin Mao-Yang from Shengang and Ms. Lai Duan from Beitun. The architecture is a mixture of Minnan courtyard, Japanese modern western style, and Japanese timber house. Among it, the red brick walls and pillared arcades of the traditional courtyard and the two-floor detached brick mansion were the fashionable and innovative “grand house” in that years. In 2007, it was registered as a historical building. It started to open to the public in 2015 after the restoration was completed. It is the latest complex art and culture space in Taichung The unique building style is also a popular attraction for people’s trip on holidays and couples taking pre-wedding photos.
