Side Exhibition Area of the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival!How to Avoid Traffic Jam

Since the 21st, the side exhibition area of the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival “Children’s Fun Paradise” will be open at Wenxin Forest Park. Large crowds are expected and in order to maintain smooth traffic flow, no parking is allowed in the nearby parking spaces including those on Xiangshang Rd., Wenxin Rd. and Huiwen Rd. while between 10:00 and 23:00 on holidays, no traffic is allowed to Datun 7th St. and the area on Huiwen Rd. near the exhibition area.

Due to limited parking spaces, the Transportation Bureau calls for the use of the surrounding ten public bus routes including Line 800 to the exhibition area. Visitors by car can park their cars at Xiangshang and South Shuinan from Friday to Sunday and then they are welcome to take free shuttle buses to the side exhibition area.
 

According to the Bureau of Transportation, Wenxin Rd. and Xiangshang Rd. are the main routes in the downtown area with heavy traffic flow and in order to avoid traffic jams during the Festival, no parking is allowed at the parking spaces in the surrounding area of Wenxin Forest Park including Xiangshang Rd. (Wenxin Rd-Huiwen Rd.), Wenxin Rd. (Xiangshang Rd.-Datun 7th Street), Huiwen Rd. (Xiangshang Rd.- Datun 7th Street) and Datun 7th St. (Wenxin Rd.-Datun 7th St.). Traffic control will also be conducted for the surrounding roads including Datun 7th St. (Wenxin Rd.-Huiwen Rd. from eastbound to westbound) and Huiwen Rd. (Datun 7th St.-Xiangshang Rd,) between 10:00 and 23:00 on holidays and flexible traffic plans will be implemented by the police on the site.
 

Due to limited parking spaces, the Bureau of Transportation calls for the use of ten lines of public buses including 5, 53, 73, 83, 89, 157, 290, 356, 359, and 800 to the exhibition area. Among them, Line 800 provides more convenient traffic accesses passing mainly Wenxin Rd., Beitun Rd., and Songzhu Rd. at the peak hour service between 10 to 20 minutes and off peak hour and holiday service between 15 and 30 minutes. According to the traffic needs of the crowds, the shuttle bus service traveling between “THSR Taichung Station-Wenxin Forest Park” is also available; riders of Taiwan Railway can transit at Daqing Train Station while riders of THSR can transit from Taichung Station for more economical and convenient transport options.
 

In addition, to avoid traffic jams in the surrounding area, visitors by car can park their cars at Xiangshang Parking Lot and South Shuinan Parking Lot every Friday and Saturday and Sunday then take two free shuttle bus line: “Xiangshang Flower Market Line” and “South Shuinan Line” to the side exhibition area, respectively, offering parking for 3,848 and 3,322 vehicles. Motorcycle riders can park their vehicles at Huiwen and Huizhong Parking Lots and then walk directly to the side exhibition area.

 

Director General of Transportation Bureau, Ye said illegal parking will be reported strictly to maintain traffic order and safety and called for the use of THSR, Taiwan Railway, public bus, and free shuttle bus to the exhibition area to protect our environment and to avoid traffic jams. The main exhibition area of the 2020 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taichung at Houli Expo Park will be open on February 8th next year. With the early beginning of the exhibition at Wenxin Forest Park on December 21st this year, the exhibition time will be 65 days long.
